Construction began in March, 2004 on the long-awaited replacement for the old Scout Hut. The Frank Mayhew, Jr. Memorial Scout Hut, dedicated in 1972, was razed in 2002 as part of a major renovation and construction project at the church. This new building, five years in the planning, will include storage rooms for church lawn equipment and pre-school playground equipment. It will provide storage for all troop supplies and equipment as well as the trailer. Troop member parents, leaders, and friends participated in a major troop fund raising effort in 1999-2000 which contributed a significant amount for the finishing of the interior space. The troop is greatful to the parishoners and friends of St. John's who provided construction funding as part of the church construction project.
