Philmont Scout Ranch Expeditions
Five-Year Itinerary Cross Reference (2006 - 2002)
Summary Page

This Cross Reference shows comparisons between the Expedition itineraries for the last five years. This summary cover page shows several highlight features and has links to more detail for each itinerary. It may assist crews in selecting itineraries, particularly veteran Philmont campers who are familiar with itineraries from previous years. All information is from the Treks Itinerary Guide books for the corresponding year.

Minor changes and adjustments typically occur each year and major changes are rare. The Ponil Complex fires in June 2002 caused significant and major itinerary changes for the 2002 season. New "Fire Modified" itineraries were created, sometimes changed on a daily basis, and continued to be used for much of the summer, especially for routes in the North and Valle Vidal regions. The 2002 itinerary listings shown here are as originally planned and published in the Treks book. In 2003, the number of itineraries in the North and Valle was reduced as a result of these fires, and five North and Valle itineraries were completely changed to the South and Central. Some have since moved back to the North and Valle.

Additional details for previous year's itineraries may be viewed by browsing old Itinerary Guides available on the Patriots' Path Council (NJ) High Adventure Training site where many of these books, going back to the 1970s, are posted. See also the Philmont Document Archives page on this site for additional information.

Click on the itinerary numbers below to see detail of the individual listings. Note that minor errors may exist in the map and profile chart pages of the Treks book (which would be reflected here), and other errors may also exist in the creation of these charts shown here. Crews should always (a) use the Philmont topo maps for planning their routes and (b) discuss the route options during their briefing at Logistics upon arrival.
